Yes, over the years, much has changed and will continue to change in years to come before Jesus' return.
We are not to deny that change happens–that’s life. Things have changed drastically since Jesus walked the earth doing good. Some changes have been good and some bad! Of course, worse, as people turned away from God’s standards. As things change around us, we embrace a new way of life, even thinking in some ways.
However, what should not change is our value system as followers of Christ. Despite what may be viewed as progress can be opposition to God’s standards, which do not change because He does not change.
“For I am the Lord, I do not change.” -Malachi 3:6 NKJV.
If or when you are challenged to change to fit in with the changing trends of the world, remember your Christian values. You must be bold enough to declare Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Regardless of any other paths proposed or standards presented, stand on the Truth of God’s Word, being Jesus, the Living Word that gives us life to the full in the now and the next, that is eternity.
John’s instructions are explicit:
“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” -1 John 2:15 NKJV.
Therefore, trying to fit in with the world starts with gradually compromising to ‘fit-in’ and eventually being deceived by changing the way you think about God’s standards. Before you realize, you are in a backslidden condition, and your heart is hardened toward Jesus the Christ, who loves you and gave His life for you. Now being the risen Christ seated at the right hand of God the Father, loving you unconditionally, and interceding for us all.
Although we see the world changing around us, we must stand on the foundation of God’s Word, which is unchanging.
PERSONAL PRAYER:
Eternal God, Father of our Lord Jesus the Christ, in this changing world, I vow to hold on to You and Your standard of holiness. By the indwelling of Your Holy Spirit, I am empowered to live in obedience to Your Word. Help me to daily grow and live knowing that You are God, from eternity to eternity. Help me remain true to my commitment to You, knowing Your standards remain the same, and that You are with me, for me and in me. Thank You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
